JUST A FEW POISONOUS PLANTS - please take care.     

 

              Daphne – Berries – FATAL a few can KILL children 

  Wisteria – Seed pods – Mild to severe digestive upset – Poisons many children
 
  Laburnum (Golden Chain) – Seed capsules – Severe poisoning, excitement, staggering, convulsions, coma
 
  Broom – Seeds – As Laburnum but not toxic
 
  Rhododendron – AS LAUREL ABOVE
 
  Azelea – AS LAUREL ABOVE
 
  Yew – Berries/Foliage – Fatal, foliage is more toxic than the berries, death usually sudden without warning symptoms
 
 Wild or Cultivated Cherry – Twigs/Foliage – Fatal, releases cyanide when eaten
 
 Oak – Foliage/Acorns – Affects kidneys gradually, symptoms apperar only after several weeks. Takes a large amount for poisoning
 
 Holly – Berries –Vomiting & diarrhoea
 
 Privet – Berries – Can be fatal, nausea, vomiting & diarrhoea
 
   Cuckoo Pint (male & female) – All Parts – Intense irritation & burning of the mouth & tongue
 
 Greater Celandine – All Parts – Diarrhoea, inflammation of the bladder, drowsiness & dermatitis of the skin
 
 Deadly Nightshade – All Parts – Fatal, intense digestive disturbance & nervous symptoms
 
 Henbane – All Parts – Roots get mistaken for parsnips – As above for Nightshade
 
 Buttercup – All Parts – Irritant juices may severely injure the digestive system
 
     Hemlock / Water Hemlock – All Parts – Fatal, looks like a wild carrot, violent and painful convulsions
 
  Thorn Apple – All Parts – Abdominal thirst, distorted vision, delirium, incoherence, coma
 
 Poinsettia – Leaves – Fatal – ONE LEAF CAN KILL A CHILD OR ANIMAL
 
 Mistletoe – Berries – Fatal for both Adults & children
 
 Hyacinth – Bulbs – Nausea, vomiting & diarrhea (may be fatal)
 
 Daffodil – AS HYACINTH ABOVE
 
 Narcissus – AS HYACINTH ABOVE
 
   Rhubarb – Leaves – Fatal, Large amount of raw or cooked leaves can cause convulsions & coma followed by rapid death
