Q. What does manual handling mean?

A. The moving of any thing by Manual means.Therefore there is no job that will not involve some manual handling from the use of a keyboard to the moving of heavy objects.Approximately 40% of all reportable injuries are a result of poor manual handling. The HSE states - Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training. This should be supplemented as necessary with more specific information and training on manual handling injury risks.
